In 1851 the extreme Clipper Ship " Flying Cloud" with Josiah Cressy as the Captain and his wife, Eleanor, as the navigator set a sailing record of 89 days 21 hours between New York City and San Francisco. The record was never broken by a conventional sailing vessel.
My Great Grandfather Anson Cressy and Great Grandmother Emogene had 13 children. This picture was taken about 1907 at their farm near Hartington, NE. The young man setting on the porch is Frank Newsam. He married Anson's oldest daughter, Effie.
