Note: Edward left home at 15 and became a grocery clerk in Rockville, Maryland. He opened his own store at the age of 21.
Aaron, John and Edward came to Illinois in the 1830's and settled just southeast of Elwin. Edward went back to Maryland, where he lived most of his life, but he visited Illinois nearly every summer for many years.
He died about 1885. The story is that he died of pneumonia induced by swimming the Potomac River on his birthday. He is said to have been married four or five times, and to have planned another marriage, to a 16-year-old girl, at the time of his death. He may have lived in Rockville, this is not certain. The names of his wives are not known.
