Note: According to Mary's granddaughter Joyce, Mary was a spritely and happy woman who cared for her family greatly. After the marriage of her daughters, Mary would spend one day each week with a different daughter, enjoying them and their children. But she would always be home in time to prepare Gaetano's dinner.

Mary had a good sense of humor and would tease her grandchildren while they teased her right back. Her family brought her to America when she was four years old and she began school here.

At the end of her life, Gaetano had developed cancer and was slowly dying. Mary was at the hospital every day to care for her husband and eventually wore herself out. The doctors recommended that she check into the hospital for a rest but she was afraid that she would never leave the hospital. Only a couple days after she checked in Mary Abenanti quietly died in her sleep. When she was found she had a peaceful smile on her face.

It is said that her daughter Pauline has Mary's personality.

Note: Gaetano was a little man but very feisty. He enjoyed life, but was quite often the stern Italian patriarch.

Joyce reports that he made his own wine and drank it every day. But one could always tell if Gaetano liked someone. If he thought you were a good person and he liked you he would offer wine. But people that he did not like were offered no wine.

Gaetano immigrated to America when he was 20 years old and married Mary seven years later.

Many people say that his daughter Clara has her father's personality. (Joyce Fallara Speciale Craycroft)
