Note: After my discharge from the Air Force in February, 1970, I worked at several jobs in Decatur, Illinois, and St. Louis, Missouri. In December, 1971, I began working for Santa Fe Air Freight in St. Louis. I continued this occupation, with a couple of short exceptions until 1988.
After becoming disgusted with the business I moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and began to look for another career. I spent the seven years working as a secretary/receptionist, and administrative assistant. All the while I continued to learn about computers, largely on my own.
In September, 1995, I changed careers again, and began working as a computer support technician.
In July, 1994, I met my second wife Joyce while working at Ameritech Cellular Services. Despite a good beginning the marriage ended in March, 1999.
Occupation: Date: JUL 1996
Place: Customer Service agent, Ameritech Cellular

Note: My wife Joyce is a most wonderful woman. She is very loving and loyal. She has a happy, carefree personality and enjoys her family to the utmost.

Note: I learned from my mother just yesterday that the reason my parents moved to Chicago was the urging of a wartime service buddy of my father's, Paul Shelton. After their arrival in Chicago, he made contact with another of his friends, known to me only as "Sarge and Betty". (Robert Craycroft, 12/26/1999)
My father spent most his life working in factories, the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, and the Post Office. He told me that he did not want his children to have to work like he did but for them to get an education and do "clean" work. I remember that my father often worked 2 or more jobs and they were always physically demanding work.
He died as a result of a freak auto accident when the steering wheel assembly broke and his car veered across a bridge (Lost Bridge in Decatur, Illinois) and through a cast aluminum guard rail into Lake Decatur. He was trapped in the car and was drowned.

It should be noted that on his death certificate it shows him as a Junior. This was an error. Dad was noted named a Junior on his birth certificate and never in his life did he or his father Clifton Craycroft ever refer to him as Junior. (Robert Craycroft, 8/5/2000)

Title: History of the Craycroft Family from June 10, 1297 A.D.
Author: John Henry Craycroft
Publication: January 1, 1942, Richmond, California
Media: Manuscript
Note: SecondaryPage: Page 92

Note: The following is a transcript taken from page 92 of The History of The Craycroft Family. It was probably written by John Henry Craycroft, and it is worded as if it were copied in part from Alice Valpey Craycroft's obituary.
Her (Franke Craycroft) mother was the wife of Rev. John Wesley Craycroft. Her full name was Mrs. Alice Valpey Craycroft of Modesto California, and she was the mother of Doctor William Wert Craycroft, Dentist, Doctor Harry J. Craycroft, and the one girl Franke Craycroft. She died at her home in Modesto California 1202 13th Street Saturday morning August 3rd. 1934. She was born in Nova Schocia (Scotia) on April 16th. 1849 and was 85 years of age at the time of her passing. She and her mother came to the United States when she was a small girl with her parents, They lived in Yarmouth, Mass. for about a year. Then they moved to Boston Mass. After a stay here a short time they moved to New York City. This was the first time any of them had traveled on a railroad train. California was drawing people to that state like a huge magnet. Her father made arrangements with some of his relatives living in New York City for Alice and her mother to live with them until he could go out to California and investigate possibilities of moving out there permanently.
Mr. Valpey then left for California by way of Panama. Crossed across the Isthmus of Panama to the P{acific Ocean and boarded a sailing vessel for San Francisco California. He spent several months in his investigations and at last he purchased a farm near San Jose California, and sent for his wife and daughter (Alice) in New York City. They also took a sailing vessel for the Isthmus of Panama. Crossed the isthmus, and again boarded a sailing vessel and arrived in San Francisco California, and Mr. Valpey met them and took them to their new home near San Jose. Here they lived for many years, where she (Alice) married Rev. John Wesley Craycroft September 11th. 1867 A.D.
NOTE: The above passage was probably written by John Henry Craycroft as previously stated. On page 84 of the same History, in a passage presumably written by John Wesley Craycroft, he states that he and Alice were married on July 28th, 1868. As of this writing (February 5, 2000) I do not have any primary document to support either date, so I would accept the date provided by John Wesley, as it was his marriage. (Robert Lynn Craycroft)
