He states that they showed up in Madison County KY in 1805 and probably there sine 1802 when land was sold in Amherst. James was killed May 1813 at Dudley's Defeat (Ft. Meigs, Ohio). Sarah D. C. 1830's in either madison County KY or possibley in Hendricks Co., Indiana.
James W. and Sarah had many childen - one of who was Phillip B. McClain. B. may stand for Bailey or Bascum. James W. was brother of Henry McClain Jr. of Amherst/Nelson Counties, VA. Both James and Henry named daughters Euphias and Ufious McClain siged James & Sarah's marriage license. Believe her to be his mother.

Agreeable to a return from Wiliam Bibb one of the overseers of the poor for the first hundred. Its ordered that the said overseer or overseers of the poor for the said hundred to bind out Dorothy Bailey a bastard child of Sally Bailey to George Blaine to learn the trade of spinster agreeable to law.

Ordered that the overseers of the poor bind out Dolley Bailey aged six years the sixteenth day of February next, a bastard child of Sally Bailey to May Dillard to learn the trade of a spinster agreeable to law. It appearing to the court that the former order of court made to bind out the said Dolley Bailey to George Blaine hath not been complied with, and it appearing that the said Mary Dillar is much fittinger person to bind the said Dolley Bailey, too.
