Who am I? My name is Michele Simmons Lewis and I have been doing genealogical research for 18 years. I am the staff genealogist of the McDuffie Mirror newspaper in Thomson, McDuffie Co, GA and I also run a small genealogy consulting business. The information presented on this web page reflects my personal genealogy file.

I recently switched from Family Tree Maker [FTM] to Legacy. I am in the process of going through my entire file and cleaning it up. Legacy has many built in error checkers that FTM does not have. Most of the errors are stupid mistakes but they are mistakes nonetheless. Legacy is the best genealogy program that I have found and I encourage you to take their free version out for a spin. Their free version is a very good program in itself but I am sure you will want to upgrade to the full version. They have the best support including a mailing list where you can get all of your questions answered. I am a big fan of Legacy [and no, they do not pay me to say that]. I will be updating this web site often as I make all of these corrections and updates. It will take me a while to get 18 years worth of research corrected and standardized so please check back often. I am also converting all of my sources over to the standard format as outlined in the book, Evidence Explained by Elizabeth Shown Mills which is the gold standard for professional genealogists.
