1877 - 18 MAY Died on Friday 11 May of Pneumonia at his home on Big Barren
- ELIJAH BELL, age 70 years, leaves a widow, 1 daughter and 2 sons
Page 12 has this story: 1878 - 09 AUG Funeral sermon of Mr & MRS. ELIJAH BELL, long time residents on Big Barren, will be preached by Rev. Timothy Reeves at the Buffalo Church next Sunday.

(Louisa Isabelle BELL) (died 05 Jun 1940)
	Services for Mrs. Isabelle Lewis of 1226 West 103 St. Los Angeles, were held
	at W.A. Brown Funeral Home with Rev. E.O. Forde of Sunnyside Baptist Church
	officiating. Interment was at Inglewood Park Cemetery. Mrs. Lewis was born
	at Doniphan, Mo in 1860. She moved to Texas where she was a member of the
	First Baptist Church. In 1925 she moved to Los Angeles.
	She is survived by 5 sons and 5 daughters: Mrs. G.R. Woodard of Toler, Texas,
	Mr. E.V. Lewis of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. H.G. Smith of Tallulah La, Mrs.
	J.G. Windsor of Little Rock Ar, Mr. W.M. Lewis of Little Rock Ar, and Mrs.
	Bessie Morris, Mrs. H.R. Ramsey, Comer, Raymond and Darrell of this city;
	three sisters, three brothers, 24 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

THE RIPLEY COUNTY DEMOCRAT, FRIDAY, 23 APRIL 1915
       Mrs. Louisa S. Bell, wife of Valentine A. Bell, died last Saturday morning   
       at the home of her son, R.W. Bell, here of a stroke suffered some time ago.    
       Buried Oakridge cemetery Sunday afternoon.  Rev. S,A, Wilkerson of Baptist   
       Church officiated.  Life long member of Baptist church.  Native of Ripley  
       County, born 1843 of French blood on her father's side.  Married at age 18   
       and had 11 children, 10 living, 6 daughters and 4 sons.  Those present for   
       funeral were R.W. and George Bell, Mrs. Tory Lowe, Mrs. John Lewis and Mrs. 
       Drusie Sandlin.  Others could not come.

Louisa Isabelle BELL Lewis

Born April 12, 1894, Doniphan, Missouri. Passed away February 3 1956,
	Culver City Ca. She is survived by her husband, Harry R. Ramsey, five children,
	Harry Ramsey, Jr., John Lewis Ramsey, James William Ramsey, Mary Louise Patrick,
	and David Darrell Ramsey, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
	Officiating at the service were Rev. E.O. Forde and Rev. J. Brian Reid of
	Sunnyside Baptist Church. Last Resting place, Inglewood Park Cemetery.

Grace Bell LEWIS Ramsey

1 OCT 1880 (died 27 Sep 1880)
	Jason W. Bell died at his residence on Buffalo on Monday last. Age about
	28 yrs. Lived in that area more than 20 yrs. Leaves wife and 3 children,
	the youngest of whom was born about 1/2 hours after he died.

THE DONIPHAN REPUBLICAN, THURSDAY, 25 DEC 1919
Rev. V.A. Bell, formerly of Ripley County, died at Kensett, Ark. last Friday after a 
very short illness.  Remains brought here Saturday and service held Wednesday afternoon 
upon arrival of son Winfield from California.  A Mason.  Rev. D.K. Foster officiated.

THE PROSPECT-NEWS, THURSDAY, 25 DECEMBER 1919
Died at the home of grand-daughter, Mrs. H.H. Morris at Kensett, Arkansas - Rev. V.A. 
Bell.  Died Friday, Dec. 19th at 6 pm of bronichal pneumonia.  Funeral services at 
Baptist Church here in Doniphan Saturday and burial in Oakridge Cemetery.  He was 78 
years of age and a former resident and a minister for 47 years.  Also left son Winfield.

Died - Rev. V.A. Bell.  His son, Winfield Bell came from California.

Died about 2 weeks ago, the father of R.W. Bell, of Terminal Island, California.

	The 4 yr old son of Mr & Mrs Aden Lowe died last Friday - clothing caught
	fire from match - child died 4 pm. They live 4 miles East of town.

	(Died 1947)
	Funeral services will be held today for Mrs. Betty (Granny) Thomas, widow
	of the late John H. Thomas, who died at the home of her daughter following
	an extended illness. She was 95. The funeral will be held at 1:00 this afternoon
	at the Old Gibson Primitive Baptist Church. Rev. T.M. Blackburn and Rev.
	Lemuel Ruston of Waverly officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Gibson
	Cemetery.
	Mrs. Thomas was born in West Plains Mo, January 2 1852, the daughter of the
	late John Comer and Ruth Baker Lewis. Her father was wounded in the Battle
	of Shiloh during the Civil War, where he spent 1 year as a member of the
	Confederate Army. While away at war, her mother died and she was the sole
	responsible one to care for the family.
	One of her own experiences was to accompany her aunt on horseback from their
	home in West Plains to New Madrid Mo, a distance of 140 miles, for salt for
	the family. During their overnight lodging in a barn enroute the horse of
	the aunt was stolen by the Federal Troops stationed nearby. The next morning
	the aunt went to the commanding officer and got the horse back. Soon after
	the war she married and moved to Humphreys County near Centerville, moved
	then to Waverly where she spent most of her life until they moved to Humboldt
	in 1913. She was a member of the Old Gibson Primitive Baptist Church. Her
	husband preceded her in death in 1921. She leaves 2 daughters, Mrs. C.K.
	Daniels of Humboldt, Mrs. C.M. Branch of Milam, 5 sons, W.E. and L.C. Thomas,
	both of Humboldt, J.C. Thomas, of Waverly Tenn., L.L. and E.B. Thomas, both
	of Memphis, Tenn. and 2 half brothers, Sam Lewis of Detroit Mich. and George
	Lewis of Truman Ar. She also has 54 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren
	and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

	Aden Lowe died at home 3 PM Sat of TB. Funeral Sunday, Rev. E.L. Rogers
	officated. Buried Amity Cemetery Age 48, leaves wife, 2 step children. Son
	of Col. Aden Lowe of the Civil War and his wife Tory, Now Mrs. D.K. Ponder.
	Born and raised in county.

	4 mths, 23 da. Survived by Mrs. James Bell and Henry Flood, both of Doniphan,
	1 daug M North Mo., 2 sons in St. Louis and a sister who lived with him.
	Baptist - buried Oakridge.

	Mrs. Sarah J Bell, wife of R.W. Bell, died at home at 8:45 am last Thursday
	of consumption. Funeral Friday 2:30 pm at home, conducted by Rev S A Wilkinson,
	Baptist Church. Buried at Oakridge. Born 7 Feb 1871, just over the State
	Line in Randolph Co., Ark, near what is now the town of Currentview, which
	in those days was known as Buckskull. Daughter of W T Stepp, former county
	clerk in early 1880's. Leaves husband, 2 sons, also 2 sisters: Mrs John A
	Pulliam, Doniphan, Mrs J D King, Butler Co. 2 brothers, William Stepp, Vandalia,
	Ill. and Charles Stepp, New Madrid.

	Jerry Neal, brother of Mrs R.W. Bell, died at home last Friday 7 pm of pneumonia
	- he was 19. Rev H N McGhee buried him Sunday at Amity graveyard.

	Mrs Margaret Cotton, died (1 Nov) in Little Rock Monday afternoon at the
	home of her daughter, Mrs Bee Cotton Thomas. She was 83. Born in Tenn but
	lived in Ripley County over 50 years before moving to Little Rock to live
	with her daughter. A Baptist since age 12. On 10 July she fractured a hip
	and after sometime in the Baptist hospital in Little Rock went home. Buried
	yesterday after services at Baptist Church - widow of late Rev Morgan White
	Cotton. Leaves her daughter, 1 son, James W Cotton, Kansas City, 2 grandsons,
	Bertran Cotton, Houston, TX and Lindsay Cotton Thomas, Little Rock.

	Mrs Drusie Cox, sister of R W Bell of Doniphan, died at home in Los Angeles,
	California on Saturday, 29 Oct of cancer. Buried Monday. A daughter of the
	late Rev & Mrs V A Bell of Doniphan and reared here. Age 61. Her first
	husband was Jeff Sandlin. After he died and after moving to California she
	married Walter Cox. Leaves husband and 1 son, Carl Sandlin.

	William Franklin Bell, age 52, formerly of Doniphan, at his home in San Pedro,
	California, last week of a heart attack. Born in Doniphan and married Miss
	Ethel Rose Parrish her 34 years ago. Youngest son of the late Rev V A Bell,
	pioneer Baptist preacher of Ripley County. Leaves wife, a son Vergil, 3
	daughters, Mrs Thelma Smith, Los Angeles, Mrs Annie Lee Wright and Miss Lorraine
	Bell, San Pedro, California. Also leaves six sisters: Mrs J L Ponder, San
	Pedro; Mrs George Missick, Mrs Isabella Lewis and Mrs Walter Cox, all of
	Los Angeles; Mrs Torrie Lowe, Doniphan and Mrs Alice Mathis, Pittsburg PA.
	Also leaves three brothers: George Bell, Little Rock, Ark., Winfield Bell
	and James Bell, of Portland, Oregon. Member of Composite Lodge No 369 A F
	& A M., Doniphan. Services at San Pedro under the auspices of A F E Irwin
	Masonic Lodge, San Pedro and burial in Roosevelt Memorial Park, San Pedro.
