They had 11 children and he left her the youngest child, Joseph b 5-7-1800, he took the other ten. He went west, but she went to Salem, NC, a few years, then she married Phillip Carl Schoff 9-26-1807. (From Moravian Archives) They think he took children to Alabama first, (Moravian Records) then later they went to Kentucky. The childrens names and birthdates are all from Moravian Records, Winston-Salem, NC. From Rumles History of Rowan Co NC 8-8-1770, Jeremias (Jeremiah) is reported as a Tory in Captain Eables District, and Samuel, William, and Jeremiah Elrod in Captain Coo? District. From North Carolina legislative papers HC3-8-1770 Petition of a number of inhabitants of Rowan Co NC, (names only in text) William Douthit, Thomas Butner, Adam Elrod, William Boner, Jeremiah Elrod, Thomas Douthit, Issac Douthit, and many others, but these are the ones in the Elrod family. From Lamar Landfair, I was given that Jeremiah Elrod b. 1755 married Mary Null 8-19-1785, Surry Co NC, but Jeremiah Elrod b. 1755 had he and his wife Catherine had three children before that date, and Morivan records give all his children and his wife. Mr. Landfair said he went to Wayne Co IN, then Rutherford Co TN. Mr. Landfair gave childrens names of Jeremiah and Mary Null Elrod as Harmon, George, S. Montgomery, Adam A., James C., and Thomas S., but Jeremiah and Barbara only had two children with these names. Harmon and Adam. Jeremiah and Catherine had a grandson named Thomas S., son of Michael Elrod. The family as I have given it was from Moravian Archives, Winston-Salem, NC, so these are two different Jeremiahs. In Kentucky Jeremiah married a woman, who has been said by some to have been an Indian. Her name was Mary 'Polly. While in Kentucky there were born five boys of whom one girl was named Phoebe, and probably two girls born between 1800 and 1821.
