Masonic Officers
At the annual election of officers of the Wauchula Masonic Lodge, Monday, Dec. 10, the following were elected for the ensuing year: John T. Burnett, worshipful master; John Walker, senior warden; J. F. Schweigart, junior warden; Carl Hanna, treasurer; R. B. Downing, secretary. These officers will be installed Dec. 27.

Melton – Mroczka
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dennis announce the marriage of their daughter, Mrs. Hazel Melton, and C. J. Mroczka of Ludlington, Mich. on Oct. 31. Mrs. Mroczka is a graduate of Wauchula High School and is employed at Walker’s garage. Mr. Mroczka is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mroczka of Ludlington and a graduate of Ludlington High School. He was a pilot in the U.S... Army Air Force and recently received his discharge at Chanute Field, Illinois.

Personals
Miss Carlotta Clavel, who is a student at Florida State College for Women, is spending the Christmas holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Clavel.

Hundreds of Hardee Countians gathered at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Dow Durrance on the Wauchula-Avon Park road Sunday to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary.

A supper, honoring Clinton Johnson, recently discharged from the armed forces, was held Saturday night at the Fish Branch Church.

Miss Thelma Cole Miller, stenographer and bookkeeper in charge of the office of the canning plant of her father in Edinburg, Tex., is expected to arrive here tomorrow and will spend the Christmas holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Miller.

Servicemen
J. G. (Slim) Anderson, who has been doing his bit for Uncle Sam by serving with the Naval forces in both the Atlantic and Pacific combat areas, recently wrote his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Anderson, Jr. of Wauchula from a naval base in the Philippines that he expected to be home for Christmas.

As a member of the underwater demolition team, Ens. Shelley S. Boone of Wauchula participated in special operations in connection with the landings of Allied occupation troops in Japan.

Sgt. Farris H. Davis arrived here the latter part of last week from Camp Blanding where he was given his discharge. He served nearly six years with the armed services. He served 14 months overseas and was in France, Belgium, Luxembourg. He is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Davis in Limestone and, after the holidays, expects to go back to the road department.

Lt. (jg) H. B. Dominick of Wauchula was placed on the inactive list on Dec. 13 at Jacksonville through the Naval Personnel separation center. Before entering the service, Mr. Dominick was a member of the faculty of the Wauchula High School faculty and his wife has been teaching in the elementary school.

The Naval service center at the personnel separation center in Jacksonville announced that Reuven R. Revell of Bowling Green was released on Dec. 11 at the Jacksonville base.

The Associated Press list of Floridians returning from the Pacific theatre of operations carried the names of Cpl. Sammy Weiner, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Weiner, who landed in San Francisco last Friday; and T/5 Vasco Skipper, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Skipper of rural Wauchula, who landed in Los Angeles, Calif. On Saturday. Both soldiers are expected to arrive here this week.

The Rev. and Mrs. J. N. Hendry, Sr. held a family reunion at their home on Christmas Day. All the children and grandchildren were present for the first time in several years. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Hendry, Jr., their two children, Ross and Beth; Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Waters of Bowling Green and daughter Gayle; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Carlton and their children, Claire and Tommy; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Hendry and son Larry; and Rev. and Mrs. J. N. Hendry, Sr.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry E. Metheny entertained the following guests at dinner on Christmas Day: Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Metheny, Harley Metheny, Miss Faye Metheny and Myrtle Pollard, all of Frostproof; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Newsome and children, Linda, Phyllis and Carl, Jr. of Fort Meade; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Powell and son, Edwin Earl, of Lake Wales; Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Phelps and granddaughter, Sandra Gail, of Kansas City, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Metheny and son, Bobby (just returned from the European theatre of war), of Wauchula; Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Metheny of Wauchula; Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Metheny; Miss Mary Metheny; Harold Metheny (recently returned from service in Europe) of Wauchula; Frank Lozier and Jeff Flake of Wauchula. The Metheny family reunions are enjoyable occasions: food, friendship and fellowship are lavishly dispensed and fortunate, indeed, are those who attend.

The Lakeland Ledger says a number of Florida cowboys are included with others from Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Wyoming and Canada to appear at the fourth annual Jaycee rode to be presented in that city (Lakeland) on Dec. 30-Jan. 1, and among them will be King Kong Smith of Wauchula, former champion of the Arcadia rodeo.

Mr. and Mrs. John Terrell and two sons of Lake Alfred spent Christmas with relatives in Wauchula.


Servicemen
Pearl Harbor—T/5 Morris L. Albritton, son of Mrs. Clara Albritton of Fort Green and Pfc Wallace M. Smith of Limestone, husband of Mrs. Lillian Smith of Limestone, are on their way home.

Lt. Grady Burton, Jr., who is attending the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., spent the Christmas holidays here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Grady Burton, Sr. Grady, Jr. will graduate with the next June class.

On the USS Winooski—Ens. Dunning R. Terrell, USNR, of Wauchula serves on the naval auxiliary, which for the last several months has been on the oddest assignment—hunting down finding and supplying ships separated from convoys during the typhoon season.
