Mel Kester, a Concord, North Carolina, artist, portrays the Dutch Reformed Church known as The Old Mud Meeting House in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.

The building, constructed in 1800, represents the first Dutch Reform Church West of the Alleghenies.  Funds for the project were secured by a church member who made a 12-week, 1400-mile trip back to the Jerseys and Pennsylvania--- by horseback. Soldiers who starved next to George Washington at Valley Forge and who fought in Trenton’s trenches rest in churches Cemetery. The Old Mud Meeting House is listed in the 1976 addition of the National Register of  Historic

Places.
