03.  1741 Inventory of Gabriel and Catherine (Anderson) Cosand. See footnote number 01.

04.  Daniel was administrator of his parent's estate in 1741. Daniel would need to be at least 17 years old and maybe 21 to be administrator, which means he was born between 1720 and 1723.

I, p.183, Suttons Creek Monthly Meeting, Perquimans Co., NC: “Gabriel Cosand d. 10-3-1810, aged 78 years.”  The only Cosand family in the area in 1732 is Gabriel No. 1 and Catherine who surely are the parents of our Gabriel no. 2.;   Haun, Weynette Parks, Old Albemarle County, North Carolina, Perquimans Precinct, Births, Marriages, Deaths & Flesh Marks, 1659-1820 (Durham, NC, 1980) p. 75 lists Gabriel No. 2 and Abigail Cosand’s marriage and children, Aaron, Sarah, Abigail, John and Benjamin. Also, Hinshaw, William Wade, Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, (Baltimore, GPC, 1978) vol. I, p. 8, 44, 45, 97, 136, 182, 183, 191. .

06. Who is Elizabeth Cosand?

a. Jane ( -?-, Anderson) Morgan had twin daughters Catherine & Elizabeth Anderson born in 1699.  Elizabeth died at birth. [Haun, Albemarle BMD & Flesh Marks, p. 40.] It seems most likely that Catherine, b. 1699, who is the right age to marry about 1720, married Gabriel Cosand, the only Cosand in the area.  Elizabeth could be her daughter, named after her sister, and the granddaughter of Jane Anderson Morgan.

b. Elizabeth Anderson (or Morgan) could be married to Daniel Cosand, however, the only Cosand history book claims Daniel was unmarried, and when he sold his land in 1746 there was no wife mentioned.

Certified ye. 7th Day of Ffeb. 1693 . . . ”  Hannah and John Godsy were members of Perquimans Meeting in 1685. (Hinshaw, Ency. Am. Quaker Gen, I-50, and Supp. p. 4)  In 1692, John and Katherin Kinsey were mentioned as from Carolina in the Chuckatuck Meeting of Friends in Nansemond Co., Virginia. (White, Miles. Early Quaker Records in Virginia, p.39.)

10.  Haun, Old Albe. Co. NC, Perq. Prec., BMD & Flesh Marks, pp. 29, 31.  There are two birth entries for John Anderson in Haun, Old Albe. BMD. Page 29 shows “John Anderson ye sonn of John Anderson and Jan his wife was born ye 6-7 day of December 1694.” Page 31 shows “John Anderson ye son of John Anderson and Jeane his wife was born ye 7th day of December 1699.” The 1694 date must be the correct date because his twin sisters were born in 1699.
