THE SEASIDE VILLAGE OF BIRZEBBUGA MALTA

This is where I was brought up. My parents moved here in 1933. I was three years of age. Our first house was at Church Street.
My father was working at the RAF Base Kalafrana. He was a mechanical fitter at the Power Station.
My parents moved house many times. I left for Melbourne Australia on the 10th Sept. 1951, just after my 21st birthday.
My father died Dec 1953 aged 60y. My mother and the rest of the family left for Australia in March 1958.
The village has changed a great deal since the 1950s. It has more then trebled in size with many new houses and by 2005 the village population was close to ten thousands.
It is now a very popular tourist holiday resort.
A new Parish Church was completed just after the end of WW2.
