It is believed and this was written down by the late William James Coxhead of West Footscray Victoria Australia that the Coxhead folk crossed over from Koksijde / Coxyde in Belgium c1400 fleeing their country due to some religious persectution. Koksijde a coastal place is situated a few miles up from Dunkirk in France and down from Oostendee. William James Coxhead born 1918 in Footscray Victoria has carried out very extensive research on the Coxhead Family. He travelled to Europe researching the family. His records are very well detailed and presently are kept by his daughter Robin. William James Coxhead passed away 30th June 1996 in Melbourne Aust. He was the first person to encourage and help me William John P. Coxhead of Melbourne with his research.
