The time I have to work on this site is very limited (between work and home life) and the scope so ludicrously vast that I could never hope to achieve a semblance of completion by myself. I would therefore ask anyone who wants to contribute to the site with their information, opinions and comments. If you have a request for particular details, plese do not hesitate to ask. I shall do what I can, but note that it might be some time before I have the opportunity to produce results. All correspondence to this email address.

The basic definition for a family's inclusion in this site is that it has an aristocratic ancestor in either the male or female line. Thus, for instance, if your maternal grandmother was an aristocrat, your own family can be included. However, each family presentation follows the male line only and should include all or as many as possible of the male line descendants of the founder of the family. I will use the Rodhe family of Sweden as an example:

The family founder was a soldier called Per Olofsson, whose son Mathias, was born in 1670. All descendants of Per Olofsson should therefore be included in the family chart. However, the female line should not be followed. Therefore all daughters should have their marriage indicated, but not the issue of that marriage, whereas all sons should have their marriage and their issue indicated. A later generation in the Rodhe family would look as follows:

....1 Edvard Herman Rodhe, born 26 October 1845, Bishop, married 20 June 1873 Elisabeth Charlotta Bruhn (born 28 August 1852).
....1.1. Gustaf Vilhelm Einar Rodhe, born 22 July 1875, married 15 January 1903 Sigrid Sjöström (born 5 October 1883).
....1.1.1. Astri Clara Elisabeth, born 31 July 1904.
....1.1.2. Marianne, born 24 October 1907.
....1.2. Edvard Magnus Rodhe, born 17 December 1878, bishop, married 5 October 1906 Ruth Billing (born 17 December 1876).
....1.2.1. Eva Frida Elisabeth, born 21 May 1908.
....1.2.2. Sven Edvard Rodhe, born 2 October 1911.

and so on. The numbering systems works by having the founder of the family unnumbered, so Per Olofsson would appear without a number. His children would be assigned numbers depending on primogeniture so that his first son would be numbered "1.", and his second son "2.". However, we are following the male line, so between 1. and 2. we enter all the issue of 1. and increase the amount of figures by one. That way we get 1.1. for the first child in the third generation and 1.2. for the third son of the second generation. The best way to comprehend this system is to take a look at some of the files available. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on the email address given above.
