JOHN B. CORNS
John B. Corns (b. 1875 - d. 1935) a widely known neswpaperman, who was the Sunday editor of the Ironton Tribune at the time of his death. He was postmaster at Ironton from 1926 to 1931. His father was John M. Corns, Mayor of Ironton, elected in 1870, served for twelve consecutive terms. The Mayor's wife was Lytta Elizabeth Mc Mahan, daughter of Major McMahan and Lytta Cory. John B. and Martha Moore Corns had four children, Cyrus Henry b. 1918, John B. (Jack) b. 1922 d.1987) Helen b. 1923 and Martha Elizabeth b. 1925.
A copy of the Bartram- Moore- Corns family has been compiled by the Frosts and a copy of it is in the Briggs Library in Ironton, Ohio. (located in the Hamner genealogy room) The origins of the family range from the Bartrams of pre-Revolutionary War of Philadelphia, of Scottish descent; the Moores of Pre- Revolutionary War, Maine, and to the CORNS family of Welsh descent, who came to america in the 1840's.
