J.M.Ross, familiarly known to his many friends as "Uncle Matt" died at his home in Wayne, Sunday night from a paralytic stroke. Mr. Ross was attacked with a paralysis once before a few years ago but recovered sufficiently to walk around the house and some work. He was in usual health the day before his death. The deceased served as Justice of the Peace in Union districtn for eight years and was well liked in the county. He was 70 years old on the 20th day of last November. Uncle Matt was a member of the Baptist church. Funeral services were held Wednesday of this week by Rev. A.W. Damron and Rev. W.H. Beale, and the body laid to rest at the Spurlock cemetary. He is survived by his widow, one sister, Mrs. Tennessee Porter of East Lynn, and the following children; Virginia Richardson, of East Lynn; Z.T. Ross, A.L. Ross, and J.S. Ross, of Wayne; Floyd Ross of Lavalette R.1; G. W. Ross of Wayne; Tennessee Belcher of Wayne and Julia Ann Goodman of Logan County.
