Charles E. Skidmore

HINTON -- Charles Edward Skidmore, 73, of Hinton died Sunday, May 31, 1998, in Summers County Appalachian Regional Hospital after a long illness.

He was a retired postal clerk from Beckley Post Office and a former railway postal clerk in Hinton. He was a life member of American Legion Post 29, Elkins, and DAV, Hinton, serving two termsas state commander of the state DAV. He was an Episcopalian, a lifelong resident of Summers County and was a member of the Democratic Executive Committee of Summers County.

Surviving: wife, Rosalyn Arbogast Skidmore; sons, Charles E. Jr. of Washington, D.C., Gary Lee of Covington, Va., Keith of Elkins; daughters, Nancy Skaggs of Fayetteville, Sharon Whelan of Hinton, Karen Zutaut of Beckley; brother, Vern Skidmore of Hinton; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Pivont Funeral Home, Hinton, with the Rev. Carl Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Restwood Memorial Gardens, Hinton,with military graveside rites.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
