Albert S. Powers

VANCEBURG, Ky. -- Albert S. Powers, 85, of Vanceburg died Saturday, June 13, 1998, in Meadowview Regional Hospital, Maysville, Ky., after a long illness.

He retired from Union Carbide, South Charleston, W.Va., and was a former employee of Stone and Thomas Department Store, Charleston, W.Va.

Surviving: daughter, Verna C. Smith of Bethel Park, Pa.; son, Byron Powers of Vanceburg; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, W.Va.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gaydos Funeral Home, Vanceburg, Ky., and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Mortuary, South Charleston. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Hope Maysville, 1 McDonald Parkway Browning Medical Building, Maysville, KY 41056.
