COREY DNA STUDY
A couple of years ago I was furtunate enough to participate in a DNA study to establish the major Corey family lines in this country. Individuals with well documented genealogies were asked to participate in the study. As a result of this study a DNA standard has been established for the three major Corey lines in this country. Their were four Corey men that arrived in America at or around 1640. Giles Corey of Salem, Massachusetts had no sons so he is excluded from the study. John Corey of Long Island, New York arrived about 1643. Thomas Corey of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. William Cory of Portsmouth, Rhode Island who came to Portsmouth with his grandparents when only a child. The following file is from Relative Genetics and has the results of the study they performed. The file is in Adobe Acrobat format.
We have established our DNA project with Family Tree DNA. They were very happy to have us move our project to them. If you were previously tested with Relative, you will have to retest with Family Tree DNA because there allele testing is slightly different. They are helping with some of the funding and a reduced price for those of us that were tested with Relative. The project is at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/CoryorCorey/
