James Corbet
James Corbet was born in Ireland about 1780, he married Susan Hewitt who was also born in Ireland. He had at least one son born in County Monaghan Ireland about 1817, John Corbet. I found the birth of a daughter Mary in the parish records for Kirkmichael, Ayrshire, Scotland in 1824 and also in 1826. There are no other births recorded in the parish records, however I found the family in the 1841 cenusus for Kirkmichael with five children. James is listed as a weaver and Susan as a pim filler. The parish records show James Corbet's death in 1847, he is listed as a weaver and the record states "he died a pauper"
In the 1851 census Susan is living with her daughter, Agnes and her grandson John Muirhead. The Poor Relief records show that Susan applied for poor relief in 1856 and continued until her death in 1865. The records state "February 21, 1865-This pauper died"
