Another * Please note that the name "CHESNAY" varied it's spelling from CHESNE, to CHESNAY, to CHENAY, to CHENEE, and CHENIER, or CHEENEY. I have only used the spelling "CHEENEY" where no documentation verifies the spelling at that time.

For additional Chenier/Cheney/Chesnay/Chenier information check out:

Descendants of Jean CORBEIL and Marie BERNARD * (see UPDATE, this line has not as yet been proved...still searching for marriage documentation on Jean-Baptiste CORBEIL and Elisa BEAUCHAMP)

Descendants of Michel DUBOIS and Marie Michelle TESSIER

Descendants of Alexander McBRIDE and Jane SHIELDS - Their daughter, Martha married Thomas COFFEE.

Ancestors of Mary (EDDY) COFFEE - The wife of Alexander COFFEE (son of Thomas COFFEE) was Mary EDDY (descended from: Philo, Harnden, Allen, William, Caleb, Samuel, Caleb, Samuel, William). * (see UPDATE). Please note: Previously Mary's ascent was shown through Roger and Anna PURDY, This is NOT correct. Nancy PURDY's parents are yet to be documented, although several clues might connect her to the Descendants of Joseph PURDY (b. 1735). I am searching other Loyalist families that were in Ontario after 1797. Based on land grants issued to Gilbert Purdy's children, I now think she may be a granddaughter of Gilbert PURDY (1721-1777) and Mary DORLAN /DURLING. I have identified several PURDY's who received land grants in Haldimand and Hamilton Twp, Northumberland County. Residents in 1797 listed: Joseph Purdy Lot 3 1st concession; Gilbert Purdy Lot 4 1st concession; Gilbert Purdy Lot 4 2nd concession; Joseph Purdy, Jr. Lot 28 2nd concession. Also, a Joshua Purdy is listed in Haldimand Twp, along with Bays Eddy. Another clue to lead me to her parents is a Benjamin PURDY who married Harnden EDDY's sister, Dorcas. I would be interested in information on any of these Purdy's. If you would like to correspond with me regarding the PURDYs, feel free to e-mail me. See the file on the family of Benjamin PURDY and Dorcas EDDY.

Click here for Ancestors of MARY JANE MELLODEW - born 1876 - In 1999 I spent 5 weeks in Europe and spent 2 weeks in May, 1999 in England. I was able to gather much information on my MELLODEW line, although not all documented as yet, several generous cousins who live in the area are helping me connect to their Mellodew lines.

GUNHOUSE family - Family of Ralph GUNHOUSE and Constance BARIL Ralph GUNHOUSE (christened January 5, 1806 and died May 24, 1861) married Constance BARIL (or BASIL). Other GUNHOUSE relations are looking for Edwin GUNHOUSE and a John GUNHOUSE who emigrated to Canada. Please e-mail me if you have any information on the GUNHOUSE clan. Also see Glenn Gunhouse's Surname Page. Other GUNHOUSE researchers. The manuscript “Tales of Ralph Gunhouse” was written by a Louis Rankin. Glenn Gunhouse and I had searched in vain to try and identify this lady who obviously knew this Gunhouse family. Last fall while doing some surfing I came across the website of Anthony Maitland who had a family history which included a “Louisa Wurtele Rankin”. The manor that Ralph and Constance lived on was the Seigneurie de Wurtele! Sure enough, this is the Louisa Rankin who authored the manuscript which was passed down to Glenn Gunhouse. See excerpts of Anthony Maitland’s information here. Click here to see the complete narrative. Coincidentally, the author of this narrative, Dorothy May Campbell, married Otis Manchester Poole who descends from the New England Manchesters and is distantly related to our line of the Eddy family. (Bays Manchester m. Mehitable Eddy in 1730).
