Individual Note:
Although the graves of James and Sarah Carter could not be located within Magnolia Cemetery, from records kept at the cemetery it is certain that they are buried there. Time has done away with many of the headstones, either by flood or theft, but location given on records within the cemtery signify that they were buried within the Carter Plot in the Old section of the cemetery.
Their tombstone reads according to inscriptions taken in the 1930's, "Our parents. Here rest the remains of one to whom nature gave a heart, repleted with every fine feeling that adorn Humanity. James Mitchel Carter was born May 24th, 1798 and departed this life October 1836.

Sarah R. Boisclair, formerly wife of James M. Carter born Jan. 7th, 1805, died Jan. 23, 1886. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord".

From all indications, it appears that Sarah R. Barrett Carter remarried after the death of her husband James Carter, although no records could be found to substantiate this, although her name is listed in several items as Sarah R. Boisclair.
