I have very little information on this line. What I do have was furnished to me by a fellow researcher, and to my knowledge none of it has been verified. I am using it in hopes that it may help someone else researching this line, as well as myself.

First Generation


  • 1. John WHISTON was born in NY about 1801.
    • He married Hannah. She was born in NY about 1804. John WHISTON and Hannah had the following children:
    1.   i. John WHISTON was born in NY about 1828.
    2.   ii. Mary E. WHISTON was born 29 Aug 1833.
    3.   iii. Elizabeth WHISTON was born about 1835.
    4.   iv. Rosette WHISTON was born about 1845.
    5.   v. Eliza A. WHISTON was born in IL about 1849.


Second Generation
  • 3. Mary E. WHISTON (John1) was born in Deerfield, Oneida Co, NY 29 Aug 1833.

    • Mary died 28 Nov 1920 in Rowley, Buchanan Co, IA, at 87 years of age.
    She married Worthington W. MILLER in Greenwood, IL, Sep 1853
    Worthington was born in Tioga Co, NY 13 Aug 1821.
    He married Harriet "Hattie" EVERETT 18 Jan 1844.
    Worthington died 16 Apr 1889 in nr Brandon, Buchanon Co, IA, at 67 years of age.
    Mary E. WHISTON and Worthington W. MILLER had the following children:
     7.   i. Ziba MILLER
     8.   ii. B.W. MILLER
     9.  iii. Alforetta B. MILLER was born 5 Jan 1856.
    10.  iv. Martin John MILLER was born 15 Apr 1867.
    11.  v. Minnie MILLER was born about 1870.
    12.   vi. Jessie MILLER was died about 1907.


Third Generation
  • 9. Alforetta B3 MILLER (Mary2E. WHISTON, John1) was born in Greenwood, McHenry Co, IL 5 Jan 1856.
    Alforetta died 28 Dec 1931 in Buchanan Co., IA, at 75 years of age.

    • She married James H. MURPHY 2 May 1882.
    Alforetta B. MILLER and James H. MURPHY had the following children:
    13.   i. James Edwin4 MURPHY
    14.   ii. Kathryn Mae MURPHY was born 23 Mar 1899.
  • 10. Martin John3MILLER (Mary E.2 WHISTON, John1) was born in nr Fredericksburg, Chickasaw Co, IA 15 Apr 1867. Martin died 12 Feb 1941 in Fairbank, Fairbank Twp, Buchanan Co., IA, at 73 years of age. His body was interred in Fairbank, Fairbank Twp, Buchanan Co., IA.
    • He married Elizabeth BEARBOWER . Elizabeth was born in Titusville, PA 16 Sep 1862. Elizabeth died 1949 at 86 years of age.
    Martin John Miller and Elizabeth Bearbower had the following children:
