Notes and Questions: Several McDonald family histories include another daughter of Anthony and Harriet McDonald named Sarah. The source of this information is a McDonald family bible. However, the whereabouts of this Bible is not known. Does anyone know of the whereabouts of this Bible?

Oren F. Morton's History of Pendleton County indicates that the McDonald are of Scotch Irish descent. Information from Hyder McDonald's family states that the McDonald's are Scottish. Both Susan McDonald Harper and Elmira McDonald Cooper in the 1920 census state that their father was born in Ireland. Yet, Elmira's death record in Randolph County WV states that Anthony was born in Scotland. Whenever Anthony was asked in the census, he stated that he was born in Virginia. Any one have any more information which might be of assistance in determining Anthony's parentage?

There are some McDonalds in Maysville, Grant County WV. Perhaps these are relatives of Anthony McDonald. In the future there will be a link at this site to information relating to the Maysville McDonald families.

I hope this site will be a place for members of Anthony's family to exchange information, and perhaps help us break through some of the brick walls.
