Saturday, April – Some warm, bright & nice most of the
day.
Sunday, April 2 – Cold north wind, soon grew warmer & is thawing, sun is shining & looks very pleasant out. But it must be muddy roads. All at home. The blind preacher has services in the church today. I would like much to have hard him, but I could not undertake the task to ride up there. I rec’d a letter from Annie King in Milbank, Dakota, telling the sad news of the death of Mary Conant, William’s wife. Bert Allen’s wife is much better.
Monday, April 3 – Bright pleasant morning, soon the clouds
obscured the sun & little flurrys of snow came during the day.
Tuesday, April 4 – A beautiful sunshiny day, snow is melting
fast, roads are very muddy.
Wednesday, April 5 – Very pleasant, some colder, north wind
than yesterday.
Thursday, April 6 – Another very pleasant day. A good sap day. Listers called here.
Friday, April 7 – Some cloudy this morning, wind south &
chilly. Rec’d a paper from William M.
Conant in
Saturday, April 8 – This morning snow & rain
together. Mrs. Mary Sprague is 45 today
so her daughters have gotten up a surprise for her. We all were invited. Clara has gone. The going is so bad I don’t think I care to
go.
Sunday, April 9 – Cloudy & south wind. All at home. Clara did not feel well enough to ride up to the church today. Mr. Long is expected to preach his last sermon here today. The road are very muddy.
Monday, April 10 – A beautiful spring day.
Tuesday, April 11 - Very clear & pleasant, just a few
snow banks left.
Wednesday, April 12 – Cloudy & a light rain.
Thursday, April 13 – Cloudy & south wind, snow nearly
gone. Before night, south wind.
Friday, April 14 – Very pleasant morning. The first day I have felt any warm air this
spring. Mrs. Trask is better today. Clara has been cleaning the pantry.
Saturday, April 15 – A beautiful spring morning. Mrs. Trask
says she is better.
Sunday, April l6 – Very pleasant day, not any snow to be seen out on the mountain. Juba & Clara & Rollin gone to hear the blind Minister preach. Mrs. Trasks cough is severe yet, nothing she has taken has much effect.
Monday, April 17 - Rather cold north wind. Bright sunshine makes it look like spring,
frost in the ground yet & ice in the lake.
Tuesday, April 18 – A bright beautiful morning, warmer than
any day yet, too cold for anything to start growing.
Wednesday, April 19 – Very pleasant all day.
Thursday, April 20 – Cloudy this morning, preparing for
rain.
Friday, April 21 – A very light shower this morning, with a
cool north wind.
Saturday, April 22 – A very pleasant day, some warmer, no
rain, too cold for buds to start.
Sunday, April 23 – Very pleasant clear day, wind north &
cool.
Monday, April 24 – Very pleasant day. A. M. Juba painting Arthur Tappens wagon. P. M. Juba to Vergennes, took a ten pound tub of butter, 14 cents per lb. Mr. Benedict came this afternoon taking orders for groceries next week.
Tuesday, April 25 – Cloudy, but warmer than yesterday, hope
it may rain as it is much needed to soften the ground.
Wednesday, April 26 – Very pleasant day.
Thursday, April 27 – Very pleasant day, no rain yet.
Friday, April 28 – Very pleasant day, wind south. A. M. Juba in shop. P. M. he has gone to Ver. to bring Eric Trask
down. Mrs. Trask in nearly well of her
cough. Eric came about 5 oclock. Read in the paper of a terrible cyclone in
Saturday, April 29 – A beautiful summer day, rain is very
much needed. Juba has gone over to Mr. Richards in
Sunday, April 30 – Another pleasant day, warmest day this
spring, no rain yet. We had a great
feast of fish for breakfast. Eric has
gone up street to see his old friends.
