Adriaen Lane was born in 1672. He was born circa 1673 at New Utrecht, Kings County, New York. He was the son of Mathias Laen and Adriantje Hendricks. Adriaen married Martyntje Smock, daughter of Hendrick Matthysen Smock and Geertje Harmons, before 1706; first marriage Adrian. Adriaen Lane and Jannetje Van Sicklen obtained a marriage license on 27-Jan-1705/6. Adriaen Lane died in Jan-1761; probable. Adriaen's estate was proved on 3-Oct-1761 at Middlesex County, New Jersey.
He was also known as Adrian Laan Van Pelt. He was also known as Adriaen Van Pelt. He was also known as Adrians Lane. He was also known as Adrian Thyssen Lanen Van Pelt. NOTE: There is debate as to whether Adriaen is the son or grandson of Matthys According to Dorothy Koenig, eA. Van Doren Honeyman misplaces Adrian in the Lanen Van Pelt family, Fred Sisser III identifies Adriaen as the eldest son of Guisbert Tyssen Lane and his wife Jannetje Adriaens Smith. See the article "Ariaen Lane, Progenitor of the Lane Families of Somerset and Hunterdon Counties, New Jersey", pages 59-66 of "Somerset County Genealogical Quarterly", volume 6, number 3, September 1988. My own research clearly shows that Guisbert Lane had a child named Adriaen. It is unclear, however, that this Adriaen is the same Adriaen as the person who settled in Readington, NJ, since Guisbert and most of his children were located, and remain located, in Monmouth Co., NJ, near the sea. Adriaen in Readington appears closely associated with the Van Sickle family in NJ.

He was also known as Adrian Thyssen Lanen Van Pelt. He was also known as Adriaen Arie Lane. On 1693 on the assesment role.
There appears from Van Sicklen records that there may have been no children from his marriage to Jannetje Van Sicklen in 1707.

He resided at at Readington, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, in 1711.
Adriaen Lane purchased a farm from Thomas Stevenson of Pennsylvania. Either on this or on an adjoining land he had, at one time, was a mill owned by John Van Sicklen. Adriaen deeded his homestead part, of about 170 acres to his youngest son Cornelius. who died in 1785, at Shrewsbury, to which place he removed prior to his death, left the plantation by will to his two sons, Aaron and Gilbert. They divided it in 1797, Aaron taking the half which extends to the village of Readington, and Gilbert the part sout of it. Aaron's part descended to his son Aaron and to his son Marjor Aaron Lane, who died on the place in 1889. Gilbert did not live on his half part, but rented it. Upon his death it descended to his son, Cornelius C. who sold it during his lifetune to his son John C., and at his death 18 1883, his son, James who is now living at Flemington, purchased it and resided on it until April 1, 1911, when he sold it to Peter Johnson. on 6-Dec-1718 at near, Readington, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
