He acquired 200 acres with the requirement that he pay 1s per hundred acres land tax per year to keep the land free of wolves. on 25-Jan-1716 at Nantmeal, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
On 1717 his land was surveyed and was found to contain 268 acres and was classified a plantation.

On 1720 he was assessed 5£ taxes.
On 1721 he was assessed 6£ taxes.
He sold land land which he had acquired previously which had increase to 1000 acres in 1733 at Spotsylvania County, Virgina. On 1734 there was a petition to divide Nantmeal Twp through his plantation to make a Honeybrook Twp., but the plan was defeated.

William's left a will on 27-Jan-1739

provides for his wife Mary. The estate was divided into twelve parts, two for Mary, one to each of the nine living children, and one to the child Mary was then carrying. The executors were his wife Mary and Thomas Edwards; witnesses were John Dickson and David Henderson. The will stated that William was indebted to Jeremiah Sargent for 250 pounds for indenture and that he delivered a chest to Mary Sargent. There is no reason mentioned for the indenture.

William was the only male offspring to carry the Iddings name forward. William and Mary are our common grandparents. His brother, Richard, had no sons and his brother John's two sons were soon lost as Iddings when errors were made in spelling and the surname was recorded as Iddens and Idens. The family had been on the Nantmeal farm since cal699, and it was eighteen years before the land was surveyed. The first survey was recorded in April 1717 and the second on March 25, 1718. Probably hearing of the coming survey, William (g2) ' Heddings [Iddings] purchased the farm on January 26, 1716. It was recorded in book "H," page 469, of Chester County. (The record of this survey is found on page 16.) It is apparent that by this time William was the owner and manager. Richard (g2) had some years earlier relocated to Newtown Square township. The two sisters, Elizabeth and Ann, had married and were raising their own families. Only the parents, with William and John, remained on the farm. We can surmise that John left the farm about the time of William's death, because he is the only sibling recorded as living in Nantmeal until 1739. The parents died on the farm-Richard in 1725 and Sarah in 1727. William remained there until his death in 1739.
