Annetje Cowenhoven was born c 1702 at Monmouth County, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Cornelis Willemse Van Kouwenhoven and Margaretta Schenck. Annetje Cowenhoven was born in Jul. 1703. She resided at at Middleton, New Jersey, c 1718. She married Abraham Van Horne, son of Matthys Cornelissen and Fytie Brouwer, c 1719. Annetje Cowenhoven and Abraham Van Horne resided at at Monmouth County, New Jersey, bt 1719 - 1724. The family lived for a time in Monmouth County and later near White House, Hunterdon County, where they are both burried in the Old Cemetery. Annetje Cowenhoven and Abraham Van Horne resided at at Hunterdon County, New Jersey, c 1724. Annetje Cowenhoven four hundred acres of land in Hunterdon County, NJ situated along Rockaway Creek near the confluence of its north and south branches, and was part of a large tract of land originally owned by George Willocks, John Budd and James Logan and had ben surveyed and made a matter of record in 1720.

He built a large public house or Inn on the main highway which ran from New Brunswick to Easton, PA and one can still see traces (unknown time) of its foundation about a hundred feet below the old church cemetery. It had fourteen large rooms, a slave kitchen with bedroom above, and a large barn and it soon became a favorite place fir stagecoaches to stop for meals and lodging. He painted it white and the village that gradually grew around it, be came known as "Whitehouse, NJ." In 1724 at Hunterdon County, New Jersey. She at Dutch Reformed Church, Readington, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, 1749. She died on 17. Dec. 1759 at White House, Hunterdon County, New Jersey; reported to have died of smallpox. She was buried a 17. Dec. 1759 at Schenck-Couwenhoven Cemetery, Pleasant Valley, Monmouth County, New Jersey.

Colloquially, the "Jersey Dutch" were in the habit of changing final "n" to "r", and pronouncing the word Kou-wen-ho-ver, with the accent on the first, syllable. from this, the transition was easy to Cownover, which in Pennsylvania became Crownover, and in New Jersey, Conover, the form now used almost universally in that state. All the branches of this family are descended from Wolfert Gerrisse Van Kouwenhoven, who immigrated to the New Netherlands in 1630. His son, Gerrit, was known as Gerrit Wolfertsen, and his son, William, as William Gerritsen. They all lived on Long Island, in the state of New York. William Gerritsen had six sons; William, Peter, Cornelius, Albert, Jacob and John. These all removed to Monmouth County, N. Isabella, was then nineteen years of age. William was nearly twenty-five. They settled near Canandaigua, New York, on land whose value he had learned during his six months' membership of th Seneca family. There he died April 2, 1847, and there his descendants still live.

Supposed son John Cowenhoven and Sarah Cox appeared on the census of 1880 at Jamaica, Queens County, New York.
