Fred S. Bland was born on 21. Aug. 1879 at Eureka, Greenwood County, Kansas. He was the son of
John David Bland and

Funeral service for Fred S. Bland, 76, was held in the First Baptist church in Quanah, Texas April 20 at 3 o'clock with the pastor, Dr. W.E. Norman, officiating. Burial was in the Quanah cemetery under the direction of the Knowles Funeral Home.
Mr. Bland died at his home in Quanah after a serious illness of two weeks.
He was born in Eureka, August 21, 1879, and was an employee of the Santa Fe railroad until his retirement at Emporia in 1941 when he moved to Childress, Texas where he was a building contractor until ill health forced his retirement about four years ago. He was married to Edna Mae Sovern at Eureka in 1906. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in May, 1955.
Mr. Bland was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Survivors include his widow of Quanah; three sons, Glen L. Bland of Hutchinson, Kansas, Patrick Fred Bland of Childress and Everett A. Bland of Quanah; three daughters, Mrs. Eddie Boling of Quanah, Mrs. J.D. Simmons of Lubbock, Mrs. L.K. Ryno of Lubbock; a sister, Mrs. Laura Wall of Eureka; and 11 grandchildren.
He was buried on 20. Apr. 1956 at Quanah Cemetery, Quanah, Hardeman County, Texas.
