Tunis is granted power of attorney to sell land which is conveyed to him by Tunis G. Vanderveer, the executor of Eleanor Voorhees deceased by deed April 4, 1812. The will of Eleanor Voorhees of Freehold proved Janurary 7, 1811 states that she deed to her son Tunis 100 acres on the condition that he provide for her daughter, Catharine Voorhees. The Memoirs fo Benjamin Cleve (73-1821) who lived in Monmouth County, New Jersey, state that he and his family and a young man by the name of Tunis Voorhies, a neighbor, came west on November 2, 1785 to see the country. They crossed the Delaware at the Ferry two miles below Trenton, went via Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, ending at North Fork of Ten Mile creek, Washington County, Pennsylvania, in December 6, 1785. In 1789 Van Cleve moved to Cincinnati.
