     James Grant Voorhees was born on 14. Apr. 1888 at born on farm, Hopewell, Mercer County, New Jersey. He was the son of James Rowland Voorhees and Abby Virginia Phillips. James Grant Voorhees married Eleanor Ann Sutphen, daughter of John Newell Sutphen and Katherine Lavina Cruser, on 12. Oct. 1909. James Grant Voorhees died on 20. Feb. 1969 at age 80. He was buried at Family Cemetery, Hopewell, Mercer County, New Jersey. My grandfather James died of heart complications, as others did on the Voorhees side. Heart disease is prevalent in the VanVoorhees/Voorhees family. James was also the last to be buried at the farm, and we hope one day to unite them in the Highland cemetery. If all goes well, mom and I are going to have them moved in the year 2000. It will be costly, but the family will be united in the corner of the graveyard. James Voorhees's wife is buried in Highland, and we want them to be buried together, as along with the others that have died since 1969. That is the year we moved, and no more is my family buried together when they die. It seems that now Highland Cemetery has become the site for all the Voorhees resting spot.
