Edmont Sortore was also known as Edmond Sortore. Edmont Sortore was born on 19. Mar. 1838 at Amity, Allegany County, New York. He was the son of
Jonathon H. Sortore and
Sarah Ann Hoglin. Edmont Sortore began military service bt 1862 - 1865; Edmond L. Sortore served as a Private in Comany H, 130th New York Volunteers (1st New York Dragoons) during the Civic War. He enlisted on 11 August 1862 at Portageville, New York for a period of three years. He was hospitalized in Baltimore, Maryland from July - December 1984. He was mustered in at Portage Station, New York on 3 Sep 1862. He received a gun shot wound to the left ankle at Newtown, Virginia on 11 August 1864. He was discharged on 30 June 1865 at Cloud Mills, Virginia due to the gun shot wound he received. Edmond received a pension of $10.00 per month and his wife Lovina received a widow's pension of $12.00 per month based on his Civil War Service. He married
Levina E. Crandall on 10. Aug. 1862 at Friendship, Allegany County, New York; y Rev. Olney, a Baptist Miinister. Edmont Sortore was Farmer. He resided at at Amity Twp., Allegany County, New York, on 20. Jun. 1882. He died on 14. Apr. 1903 at Scio, Allegany County, New York, at age 65; Edmond L. Sortore died from Lobar Pneumonia.
