She was born May 15, 1923, on the Wildwood Ranch southwest of Joplin to Cecil Decatur and Opal Irene Kohler Houston.
She attended schools in Joplin; Miami, Okla; and Carl Junction, Mo.
She had been a resident of Medicalodge of Columbus for several years.
She married Thomas Logan Courtney Jr. in January 1942. They lived in the Columbus area for the past 50 years. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Reba June Purcell of Oulaga, Okla; three sons, Thomas Gene Courtney of Dale, Texas, Bill Dale Courtney of Carthage, Mo., and Morris Dean Courtney of Las Vegas, Nev; her twin sister, Dorothy Courtney of Joplin; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Murdock Chapel in Columbus with Tom Goettel of Center Christian Church of Columbus officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Murdock Funeral Home.
