Note ..despite census Joseph jr. is actually Joseph 2d. GF Joseph A. Connolly, owning here, would have to sell this house after the 1929 stock market crash & bank panic. Coming from Portland, Maine with his wife; the paper & boxboard business became his career. As my father said --during the depression, his wholesaling industriousness kept factories open. He rented in Lexington, Mass. later 1929. Owen [my father] would be born in Malden in 1921.

  • By my father's recollection, and 1906 Portland, Maine business notes GF Joseph A. Connolly, also managed paper plants for which he designed or conceived electro-mechanical processes. A 1906 Portland City Directory lists him at 26 on Cumberland Avenue, as an electrical engineer, - same block or same office as a Charles Scott - his father-in-law. [His son Charles A. Connolly, my uncle, became an electrical engineer.]
