These people -the Dunns- married in Wayne Kennebec (County) Maine 23 Nov 1841. She seems to be the Clara of Henry Scott & Sarah Jones. [cf letter cousin & Henry Scott/Sarah Jones ggdaughter::Mary Alice Scott]
[Ed.Note: A Sarah Scott lived with a Dunn family Denny's father? a dry goods dealer -the relations of these Dunns or the same Dunns in Portland Maine; and Dunn is variably changed from McDunn. Still in research -but one of these Denny Dunn descendants will marry another famous Maine family:: the Bean Family].

Elizabeth Hobart Scott -named for the Hobart family in part -is the daughter of Henry Scott & Sarah Jones; is North Yarmouth Cumberland Maine born & christened 1808. [ed.note Henry Scott & Sarah Jones marry in 1807].
She marries Merrick Sawyer in Penobscot Maine in 1833. [Ed.note: in 1850 US Census .. Sarah Scott is living in boarding house with her son Henry Scott in nearby Orland Maine; and 'Merrick' is occasionally mis-transcribed by cursive, as 'Menieh']
They have two sons: David Saywer (b.1835) & Jams Sawyer (b.1838) -children born in Cape Elizabeth and or Portland Maine. Merrick Sawyer is the son of Esther Hibbard and Jacob Sawyer of Cape Elizabeth Maine. [ed.note: Mary Alice Scott's letter mentions a cousin of her father -Charles Henry Scott -which cousin named David Sawyer is a Metodist Minister & a genealogist. The Sawyers settled, 17th century Ipswich Mass; then Gloucester Mass; then Falmouth & Cape Elizabeth Maine.

Henry M Scott 1823[7] ..may have been named for Monroe or Madison? ...Marries Mary Alice Pingram in January 1851 in Cape ELizabeth Maine; two children:: Edward [Eugene] Augustus Scott b.1853; & Charles Henry Scott b.1852 [ed.note: Chas Henry Scott is webmaster-SMC g-gf paternal; and the father of Mary Alice Scott & Sarah Elizabeth Scott.
In 1957, Great Aunt Mary Alice Scott wrote her nephew Owen Connolly & wife Dorothy (my father & mother) a letter congratulating them on their new dughter Sarah. It reads in part:
... The name Sarah goes very far back in the Scott family. In a great many generations there has been a Sarah. My Great grandmother was a Sarah (Jones) Scott. She was always called Sally. Her father was a Dr. Jones. I have pictures of them all. She had four daughters, Sarah, Elizabeth, Mary, Clara, and Henry who is my Grandfather and now we have my sister Sarah Elizabeth - and then Sally - and now your darling Sarah.
I don't know if you are interested in names. I guess when I was young I did not think much about it, but as we grow older we begin to think about our family tree. I wish years ago I had talked more with my father's cousin, David Sawyer. He was very interested in genealogy. I can remember him - he was a Methodist Minister. ....

This letter of Mary ALice Scott has been virtually all -save G-GF Charles Henry Scott's name which I had in re-constructing this genealogy. Sources cited have been used to reconstruct this.
