Margaret Feeney is my great great-grandmother, Ireland born who lived in Southern Maine .. Portland ar where she emigarted with her famly. She married Owen Durgin, Ireland born also, and they raised a family on a farm in Westbrook, Maine. Sadly, she died about 1873 widowing her husband with four children, in a public hospital, an Alms House .. like the early Hartford Asylum .. a nineteenth century place for public care. Her daughter, Mary Ann Durgin would marry Charles Henry Scott of Portland Maine; whose daughter Sarah Scott married Joseph A> Connolly. Portland, Maine's 1906 business directory records an Owen Durgin as a laborer; and later records an Owen Durgin Jr., her son as clerk for the Boston & Maine Railway in Portland. Another daughter, Margaret married the Milan family of Portland. Maine. Feeney's hail maily from Galway and Finisterre in Ireland, as this branch did ... and this branch is also the family of Hollywood producer/director the late John Ford Feeney. He dropped the Feeney in Hollywood. |
