Isaac Connell

 

 Isaac Connell was born on February 17, 1834 in Ohio.  He  married  Mary A. Messimore (daughter of George Messimore and Margaret Thomas) on March 25, 1860 in Columbiana Co. OH. performed by Rev. Wm. Turner.  Mary A. Messimore was born on August 14, 1835 in Ohio.

In the 1860 census Isaac and Mary were residents of Columbiana Co. OH.  The post office nearest them was N. Georgetown.  He was listed as a farmer with property worth $500.  They migrated to Indiana from Ohio between Feb 1861 and May 1862.  In 1870 they are farming and living in Jackson Twp. Kosciusko Co. with  personal estate  valued at $2000.  Her mother, Margaret age 69, was living next door to them.  In the 1880 census they are living in Monroe Twp, Kosciusko Co. IN and his occupation is that of farmer. 

Mary died on February 17, 1912 and Isaac died on June 8, 1917 in Koscuisko Co. IN.  They are buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Row 14, Jackson Twp. Koscuisko Co. IN. [Isaac Connell Will]

 

Isaac Connell and Mary A. Messimore had the following children:

 

                                 +2                      i.    Anah J. Connell (born on January 14, 1861).

 

                                  3                     ii.    Emery Stanford Connell was born on May 9, 1862 in Koscuisko Co. IN.  In the 1880 census he lists his occupation as Laborer.   Stanford was sent to recover his brother's (Dayton) remains after his death.  Stanford is listed in his father's will  dated Dec. 6, 1913.  He died on March 23, 1949 in Eustis, FL.

                                    4                    iii.    Dayton S. Connell was born on November 20, 1864 in Indiana.  In the 1880 census occupation is "works on farm".  He died on July 5, 1889 in Rockford, Washington territory.  His death occurred as the result of a flying rocket hitting him in the head at a 4th of July celebration in Rockford.    He was buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Jackson Twp. Koscuisko Co. IN.  The funeral took place at the Dodgertown church.  Tombstone states: Resting at Rockferd, WA. (Row 14.) [Incident reported in Indianian Republican July 11, 1889]

                                  6                     v.    Harvey Wilson Connell was born on August 27, 1874 in Indiana.  He died on November 21, 1897 in Devil's Lake, ND.  He  had secured a position at Devil's Lake some time ago and a month ago he came down with typhoid fever.  He was buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Jackson Twp. Koscuisko Co. IN.  Funeral was held at the Tunker church near Kinsey.  He is buried in Row 14. [Reported in Northern Indianian at Pierceton Dec. 2, 1897]

2.   Anah J. Connell (Isaac-1) was born on January 14, 1861 in Ohio.  In the 1880 census he is listed as being "at school".  He died on March 2, 1900.  He was buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Jackson Twp. Koscuisko Co. IN. 

  He was married to Mary M. McCleary on January 15, 1881 in Koscuisko Co. IN.  Book: F:382 

Anah J. Connell and Mary M. McCleary had the following child:

 

                                                    8                      i.    Ella Jesse Connell.  She married Jessie.

 

 

 

 

 

 

5.  Jennie M. Connell (Isaac-1)  was born on November 17, 1866 in Indiana.  She married Daniel P. Mishler (son of John Mishler and Nancy Priser) on November 6, 1885 in Koscuisko Co. IN.  They were married at the residence of her father, Isaac, performed by H.H. Brather, minister.  Their witnesses were Hulda Forsyth and D.S. Connell.  Dan's place of residence at the time of marriage was N. Manchester, Jackson Twp. and Jennie's as Pierceton.  At the time of marriage, Daniel listed his occupation as farmer.  Book: H:49. 

Daniel P. Mishler was born on March 26, 1860 in Indiana.  In 1880 he was living with his parents and working on the farm in Jackson Twp. Kosciusko Co. IN.

Daniel and Jennie lived in a log house which was located east of North Manchester, IN three miles on SR 114 and 1/2 mile south of the west side of the road. Unfortunately Daniel committed suicide on April 25, 1898.   He is buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Jackson Twp. Koscuisko Co. IN.  Row 9. 

After Daniel's death, Jennie continued to live in the log home and eventually built a new home.  Her son, Loyd lived in the log home.  It was later destroyed by fire and not rebuilt.  Jennie is listed in her father's will (Issac) dated Dec 6, 1913. 

Jennie remarried by 1913 to a Mr. Circle.  She died in 1941 and is  buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Jackson Twp. Koscuisko Co. IN.  Row 9.    

  Jennie M. Connell and Daniel P. Mishler had the following children:

 

            +9                      i.    Loyd Mishler (born on February 17, 1887).

          +10                     ii.    Trude N. Mishler (born on December 20, 1892).

  THIRD GENERATION

 

  9.  Loyd Mishler (Jennie M. Connell-2, Isaac-1) was born on February 17, 1887.  He died on February 12, 1962.  Loyd farmed and wove rag rugs.  They lived in the log home of his mother, Jennie.

  He married Shirley Mummert.

  Loyd Mishler and Shirley Mummert had the following child.

 

            11                      i.    Carolyn Mishler

 

10.  Trude N. Mishler (Jennie M. Connell-2, Isaac-1) was born on December 20, 1892 in North Manchester, IN.  She died on August 20, 1972.  She is buried in Fairview Cemetery SE of N. Manchester, IN.

  She  married Floyd M. Irvin (son of J. H. Irvin and Susan McFadden) on December 14, 1919 in the Springcreek Church of the Brethren, Whitley Co., IN.  Trude's residence is listed as Pierceton, IN at the time of marriage.  They were married by Rev. V.F. Schwalm.  Floyd's residence at the time of marriage was Homeworth, Columbiana Co. OH.  Floyd's occupation was listed as pastor.  Book: Z:364 

They lived in Homeworth, Ohio and Canton, Ohio before moving to Eustis, Florida in August 1923.  Floyd built and sold several homes in the Eustis area.  He also was in the fuel oil business.  Both were active members of the Church of the Brethren.

Floyd M. Irvin was born in 1894 in Wayne Co. OH.  He is buried in Fairview Cemetery SE of N. Manchester, IN. 

  Trude N. Mishler and Floyd M. Irvin had the following child:

 

            12                      i.    Waneta Rose Irvin was born on November 4, 1921 in Koscuisko Co. IN.  She died in 1936 in Florida?.  She died at age 14 of pneumonia.
