FIRST GENERATIONJohn Connell, son of William & Nancy

 

1.  John Connell was born in 1786.  He died in 1853 in Lancaster , OH .  In 1880 letter from John Connell it states this John married a sister of Sherman .  [There was a Colonel John Connell involved in the War of 1812.  He was from Brooke Co., WV.]

  John Connell had the following children:

 

              2                      i.    Frank Connell     Frank was lost at sea (per 1880 letter from John Connell).

SECOND GENERATION

  3.  Matilda Connell (John-1) 

  She was married to Gabriel Carpenter on May 6, 1835 in Fairfield County, OH.  [License issued Lancaster, Fairfield Co. Ohio , May 6, 1835 .]  Gabriel Carpenter was a wealthy merchant (per 1880 letter from John Connell).   He was born 1809 in Lancaster, PA and died 1841 in Lancaster, Ohio.  He was the son of Christian and Mary Carpenter

  Gabriel and Matilda's children:

4.  Sarah Connell (John-1)

  She was married to John C. Fall on September 9, 1835 in Lancaster, Fairfield Co OH.  Sarah Connell and John C. Fall had the following children:

 

            +10                      i.    Lizzie Fall.

 

5.  Sophie Connell (John-1)  [Per 1880 letter from John Connell:  Sophie married the eldest brother of Gen. Sherman.  Her family is now in Iowa .]

  She married a Sherman .

 

6.  Elizabeth Connell (John-1)  [Per 1880 letter from John Connell:  Now living in Lancaster ; J.C. is wealthy merchant and lawyer.]

  She was married to J.C. McCrocker.

 

7.  Fannie Connell (John-1)  [Per 1880 letter from John Connell:  Now of Pittsburg .]

  She was married to Dr. King.

 

 

  THIRD GENERATION

 

10.  Lizzie Fall (Sarah Connell-2, John-1) died in 1907 in Carson City, NV.  She was born in Ohio.  Lizzie moved west with her family to California during the Gold Rush.

  She was married to Gov. John Henry Kinkead in 1856 in Marysville, CA.  Gov. John Henry Kinkead was born on December 10, 1826 in Smithfield, Somerset Co. PA.  He died on August 15, 1904 in Carson City, NV.  He was buried in Lone Mountain Cemetery, Carson City, NV.  He came to Carson City in 1859 to establish a branch of his father-in-law's mercantile firm.  He served as Nevada Territorial Treasurer before becoming the third governor of Nevada (1879-1882). He was appointed the Governor of Alaska Territory in 1884.  He returned to Carson City in 1885.
