1.  John Myers

 

He was married to Barbara Myers.  Barbara Myers  was born in 1768.  She died in 1838.  She was buried in New Alexandria, Frederick Co. MD.  John Myers and Barbara Myers had the following children:

2.  John Myers (John-1) [In March 1804, was laid a road thirty-three feet in width “from the Ohio River to John Myers’.”]

 

He married Loire .  John and Loire Myers had the following children:

4.  Elizabeth Myers (John-1)

 

She was married to James Connell.  [See James Connell family]

 

5.  Sarah Myers (John-1) 

 

She was married to Michael Bowman.  Michael Bowman was born on December 16, 1785 .  He died on September 27, 1871 .  He was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 8.

He is listed in the 1810 tax list for Columbiana Co.  Michael was living near New Lisbon, Ohio in 1813.  In 1813 he was living in District No. 5 (Sec. 1, 2, 11, 12, N1/2 of 13; part of 14)  of Centre Township, Columbiana Co. Ohio . 

 [A Sarah Connell is also living in District 5 in 1813.]

Michael and Sarah Bowman had the following children:

          +16                     ii.    George M. Bowman (born on March 13, 1808 ).

          +17                    iii.    Lydia Bowman.

 

 6.  Mary Myers (John-1)

 

 She was married to Levi Jennings on June 27, 1816 in Columbiana Co. Ohio.

 [A Levi Jinnings is listed in the 1810 Columbiana Co. Tax List.  1827, NE quarter of Section 16 was bought by Aaron Hise and Levi Jennings Butler Township; Aaron Hise {age 65} shows up in the 1850 census for Perry Township Columbiana Co. Ohio]

 

7.  Lydia Myers (John-1)

 

Lydia was married to Joseph Richardson on June 11, 1812 by Thos. Rigdon MG in Columbiana Co.  She was Joseph’s second wife. 

[Joseph  first married Jane Green around 1800; she had died by Nov 25, 1807 .  He married a 3rd time to Ann Hendricks Oct. 10, 1820 by Joshua Chandler JP.  Ann was disowned for marriage contrary to discipline, Feb 1, 1821]

Joseph was born Sept. 14, 1774 .  He was a Quaker and belonged to the Friends Church at New Lisbon.  Joseph came to Columbiana Co. in 1809.  [However, he is listed in the state militia in 1806.]  He became well known in the village of Lisbon as a merchant.   Joseph is listed in the 1810 tax list for Columbiana Co. Ohio.  Joseph was living in District 7 (part of New Lisbon) in 1813.  He was treasurer in 1829.  Nearly 60 years ago(1819), he started the tannery on Market Street , which is continued in active operation by Simon Spiker.  Joseph was on the board of directors in 1814 for the Columbiana Bank of New Lisbon.   

Joseph Richardson was a county commissioner for Columbiana Co. 1807-1812 and State Senator 1812-1814 and State Representative 1817-18.  He was appointed justice of the peace for Elkrun Township on July 8, 1808.

 Joseph Richardson ran for Congress in Oct. 1816 from Elkrun Township.  He ran against John G. Young who received 13 votes and Joseph received 54 votes on Oct. 8th, 1816.

Dissolution of Partnership.

J. RICHARDSON & Son

By mutual consent here this day dissolved the partnership existing between them.  Those indebted will please make immediate settlement.  The Notes and Book accounts remain in the hand of Joseph RICHARDSON, who continues to carry on business at his Store and Tanyard as usual.

            22                     v.    Louisa Richardson married a Dileworth and living in the Pittsburg area [1880 letter]

            23                    vi.    Jason Richardson. 

            24                   vii.    Albert Richardson. 

            25                  viii.    William Richardson.               

            26                  ix.    Lydia Richardson married A.R. Arter [aka Michael] in 1816.  He was born in Maryland in 1805 and arrived in New Lisbon in 1815 with his parents.  In 1816 they moved from New Lisbon to Hanover .  Their children were:  1.  Joseph R.; b. New Lisbon, Oct. 18, 1817; now living in New Lisbon (1879)  2.  Dr. D.A. Arter, born Jan. 3, 1820 ; now living in Canton (1879)  3.  A.R., b. Feb. 11, 1822 ; living in Hanover (1879)  4. Jane K., b. Jan 8, 1824 , deceased (1879)  5.  Jason R., b. Dec 12, 1825 ; died 1873.  6. Catharine A., b. Apr. 30, 1828 ; married Rev. J. Catherine married a Gibson   Their Children:

He was married to Eliza Rappie.  Henry Myers and Eliza Rappie had the following children:

She was married to Phillip Geiss.  Living in the Wellsville, OH area [1880 letter].  Lydia Myers and Phillip Geiss had the following children:

14.  Pauline Myers (John-2, John-1) 

 

Pauline Myers had the following children:

            44                    iii.    Helen married William McBord and living in the Liverpool , Ohio area [1880 letter].

15.  Samuel Bowman (Sarah Myers-2, John-1)    N. Marsh.....,IN area.  A Samuel Bowman (age 61) attended the 7th Annual Meeting of the Columbiana Co. Pioneer Ass on Sept. 3, 1878 at New Lisbon.

 

He  married a Miller.  Their Children:

16.  George M. Bowman (Sarah Myers-2, John-1) was born on March 13, 1808 in Ohio .  He died on February 18, 1871 .  He was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 7 

George settled on lands in Section 23 of Knox Township in 1832.  1850 census, Knox Township Columbiana Co.;  George Bowman, age 39 farmer born Ohio; property value of $2500.  Wife Catharine age 37, born Ohio; David S. age 15, farmer, born Ohio; Emeline age 11 born Ohio; Mary age 7 born Ohio.

                1860 Knox Census; George is still farming; property worth $6,000; personal $800.  Mary L. is the only child still living with them.  1870 Atlas shows G.M. Bowman as property owner to 85 acres in the NW corner of section 23, Knox Township

 

He was married to Catharine "Katie" Summers.  Catharine "Katie" Summers was born on February 5, 1813 in Ohio .  She died on January 23, 1871 .  She was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 7.  Burial information:  died 23 (Jan/May) 1871 age 57y 11m 18d 

George M. Bowman and Catharine "Katie" Summers had the following children:

 

            48                      i.    Aaron Bowman died in 1834.

          +50                    iii.    Emeline H. Bowman  (born in 1839).

            51                    iv.    Samuel Bowman  died in 1842.

17.  Lydia Bowman (Sarah Myers-2, John-1) 

 

She married a West.   A Jesse West (age 62) attended the 6th Annual Meeting of the Columbiana Co. Pioneer Ass in September, 1877 at Hanover .

 


  FOURTH GENERATION

 

49.  David S. Bowman (George M.-3, Sarah Myers-2, John-1) was born in (1834 Knox Twp) 1835 in Ohio .  In 1879, miller and farmer P.O. North Georgetown.  [D.S. Bowman owned 150 ½ acres in Section 13, Knox Twp. In 1870]

 

David S. Bowman had the following children:  No proof whether these children belong to his 1st or 2nd wife.

 

            53                      i.    Charles Summer Bowman. 

            54                     ii.    Homer Addison Bowman . 

            55                    iii.    George Bowman died in infancy.  Twin of David.

            56                    iv.    David Bowman died in infancy.  Twin of George.

            57                     v.    Irene B. Bowman. 

 

He was married to Rachel E. Criswell.  Rachel E. Criswell was born in 1842.  She died in May 1861.  She was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 6  Remarried after her death.

 

He was married to Mary J. Shadle.  David S. Bowman and Mary J. Shadle had the following children:

 

            58                      i.    son Bowman was born on August 1, 1872 .  twin.  He died in infancy.  He was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 7

            59                     ii.    son Bowman was born on August 1, 1872 .  He died in infancy.  twin  He was buried in Reading Cemetery, Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 7

 

50.  Emeline H. Bowman (George M.-3, Sarah Myers-2, John-1)  was born in 1839 in Ohio .  Tombstone reads age 26y 11m 22d; which would mean she was born in 1849 not 1839.    She died on June 25, 1875 .  She was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 7 

 

She was married to Rev. John A. Clement.  Rev. John A. Clement was born on January 26, 1837 .  He died on March 27, 1886 .  He was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 7 

Minister of German Baptist Church in 1878 in Knox Twp.  He was clerk of Knox Township in 1867, and assessor in 1859-60.

 Emeline H. Bowman and Rev. John A. Clement had the following children:

 

            60                      i.    Odessa Clement was born on January 27, 1864 .  By burial records her sister, Cora, was born the same year; which is not possible.  She died on August 20, 1882 .  She was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 7

            61                     ii.    Cora M. Clement was born on April 20, 1864 .  She died on September 9, 1869 .  She was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 7

52.  Mary L. Bowman (George M.-3, Sarah Myers-2, John-1)  was born on July 9, 1843 in Ohio .  She died on February 26, 1878.  She was buried in Reading Cemetery, Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 8.

[ An S. Stoffer owns 74 acres in Section 34 and 21 acres in Section 27 in Knox Township in 1870.]

 

She was married to Samuel Stoffer.  Mary L. Bowman and Samuel Stoffer had the following children:

 

            67                      i.    George S. Stoffer. 

            68                     ii.    Leslie A. Stoffer was born on June 28, 1871 .  He (or she) died on October 6, 1896 .  He (or she) was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 8

            69                   iii.    John A. Stoffer was born on October 8, 1876 .  He died on January 25, 1878 .  He was buried in Reading Cemetery , Knox Twp. Columbiana Co. OH.  Row 8
