Howard W. Congram

Howard W. Congram, 90, of Rt. 5, Monticello, died at 9:05 p.m. Thursday at the Chase Manor Care Center in Logansport. He had been at the center six months and in failing health two years.

He was born Feb 8, 1897, in Francesville to George and Eva Cowell Congram. He was married in December 1922 to Mary S. Spencer, who died Feb 23, 1964.

 

He had farmed most of this life in White County, near the Hanenkratt grain elevator.

 

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Monticello, White County Historical Society and Monticello Kiwanis Club. He was past president of Kiwanis in 1963. He attended Purdue University and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I.

 

Surviving are one son, Spencer of Lafayette, La; three grandchildren; and one brother, Warren of Monticello.

 

The funeral will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home in Monticello. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home
