Rich Boyd,
I came across your e-mail address in the Ancestry.com Message Boards
for Presque Isle, Michigan regarding old photographs. Just
recently I received a copy of a photo from a new found cousin.
The photographer's mark is from Craig's Studio. This was probably
in Rogers City, as that is where the family resided in late 1800's.
My paternal grandparents (Gilden-McArthur-McAllister) came from the
Rogers City - Belknap areas, so am interested in any information that
is available.

We believe this picture to
be William Henry McArthur (born 3 Oct 1862 in Grand Island,
NY) and his son, possibly Roy McArthur (born 24 Aug 1895), perhaps
taken around 1900. We are going strictly on what someone had
written on back. Perhaps the clothing gives a
better idea as to date. The McArthur family resided in Belknap,
at least from the census info. William's father, John McArthur,
died 24 June 1882 in Belknap from a gunshot wound.
To connect me
to McArthur-McAllister. William Gilden's son John (b. 29 March
1870) married Mary Elizabeth McArthur (b. 28 Aug. 1877) in May
1900. Mary's older sister Elizabeth was married to Samuel
McAllister, Roland McAllister's parents. Thus my relationship to
them.
