   Eldon was baptized by the Rev. Louis Heinecke in the St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Belknap.  His sponsors were Fred Knopf [uncle] and Martha Legner Elowsky [aunt].
   Eldon served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961.  Upon his discharge, he began working full-time on the Knopf family dairy farm.
   Four houses have been on the Knopf Homestead farm.  The present house was built as the result of a tornado that went through Hawks and Belknap in May, 1964 - one month before my marriage to Sally Kuechenmeister.  Our farm received considerable damage to the house, the barn, the cattle shed, and the ice house/machinery shed being flattened.  The large barn needed extensive repairs and a new roof.  The farm house needed many repairs; therefore, Sally and Eldon built a new home, which was completed the following year - 1965.  The old house was eventually torn down.  My parents, Henry and Helma, bought and remodled the Belknap Township Hall, which was directly across from the old house.
   In 1973 the farm was recognized as a Michigan Centennial Farm.  The same family line of KNOPFs has operated the farm during that time
   Over the past years, 3 new pole-type steel barns and 2 silos have been built.  The farm milks an average of 50 cows each day.  The farm has about 100 head of cattle, consisting of cows, heifers, and calves.
    Eldon sold the registered Holstein cows in the spring of 2000}.  He is currently raising and selling sunflowers as a cash crop - for bird feed.  Eldon enjoys antique Farmall tractors, and has a collection of 13 that are 50 years old or more.
   Eldon and Sally are both involved in various church and farm organizations.
   Sally served on the Board of Directors of Presque Isle Electric and Gas Co-Op, and also as Secretary of the Board.

   Tim attended the Messiah Lutheran Nursery school.  His parents, Donald and Linda, nee Rahdert, Knopf moved into a new home in Arlington Park so Tim could attend a Lutheran Elementary School that would feed into Concordia Lutheran High School.  At that time his parents became members of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and Tim enrolled at St. Paul School, being a 6th gengeration family member to attend there.  While in Grade 2 Tim started taking harp lessons from Nancy Morse.  A harp was bought and later Tim would provide harp music at local churches, at Concordia High School, at weddings, and for anniversaries.  He also attended many Harp festivals at Bowling Green University, at Bowling Green, Ohio (just south of Toledo).  While at Purdue University Tim was part of the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra.

     Elwood grew up on the family farm in Belknap Township, attended elementary grades at the Noffze and St. Michael's schools, and graduated from Rogers City High School.
   Elwood served in the U.S. Army.  One year of this time was spent in Germany.  Upon discharge, he returned to the family farm until he started his work career at the U.S. Steel, Calcite Plant, as a welder-millright in the repair shop.
   Linda Kaye Cook, second daughter of Charles Harold and Jean Elizabeth, nee Soper, Cook.  Charles was born July 14, 1913 to Avery and Myra, nee Burrell, Cook.  Avery was the first electric shovel operator at the Calcite plant.  Jean was born to James and Alta, nee Kelly, Soper.  James also was a shovel operator at the same plant.
   Charles, Linda's father died on May 7, 1965, when the Great Lakes Freighter, "Cedarville," sank in the Straits of Machinaw.  Jean (Soper) Cook died April 21, 1977. Linda, has been employed in the Cosmetology field as an operator and manager/instructor in a beauty school.

   After marriage, Karen changed jobs to begin work at Minelli Motor Sales in Rogers City as bookkeeper for two years.  Then came her last change of employment  when she accepted a bookeeper position at Vogelheim Allied Home Center also in Rogers City.  She remained there unto the Company ceased operation.
    Karen enjoys gardening, especially perennial flowers, and does many types of crafts, but especially basket-making/weaving,and counted cross-stitch.
   Paul graduated from Rogers City High School, and went sailing with the Great Lakes Fleet for one year.  Then he entered the Army and served two years. He then returned to sailing.  After four years became a plumber for Milostan Plumbing and Heating in Rogers City.  He earned a Class C License to be able to continue in this field.  Soon afterward, he transferred to the Department of Public Works, as Equipment Operator.

   John (Jack) was a sailor on the Calcite boats starting out as a porter right after graduation from Rogers City High School in 1959.  Over the next 40 years, he went to winter schools and  obtained his Chief Engineer license.   After his Uncle Charles (Chuck) retired from the Munson (also as Chief Engineer), he recommended Jack.  Jack served the past 11 shipping seasons as Chief Engineer on the Freighter John G. Munson.
   The funeral for John (Jack) was held Wednesday, August 25, 1999 at the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rogers City, Michigan.   Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery – Rogers City.
