JOSEPH ARCHIBALD HARRIS, author
and teacher, was born March 9, 1845,
at Prattville; son of Buckner
and Sarah Marian (McKeithen)Harris. He
received his preparatory education
in the private schools of
Prattville. His couse
at the University of Alabama was interrupted
by the War of Secession in
which he served for four years as a
private in the Montgomery
"True Blues." C.S.Army. After the
cessation of hostilities he
devoted himself to writing and teaching.
he is a Democrat; and an Episcopalian.

Beside the foregoing he has
contributed regularly to many of the
leading newspapers and periodicals
in America. Married: May 12, 1872,
to India, daughter of Charles
Edward and Mary L. Crenshaw. Children:
