71. Samuel⁴ SHIPMAN (John Humphrey³, John², Edward¹) was born in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut May 21, 1726. Samuel died September 4, 1801 in Saybrook, Middlesex County, Connecticut at 75 years of age.⁽⁷⁰⁾

He married twice. He married Sarah DOTY June 1, 1745 in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut. Sarah was born circa 1727 in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut. Sarah was the daughter of Benjamin DOTY and Hester BEUMONT. Sarah died May 14, 1753 in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut at 25 years of age. He married Hannah BUSHNELL January 10, 1754 in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut. Hannah was born circa 1729. Hannah died September 4, 1806 in Saybrook, Middlesex County, Connecticut at 77 years of age.⁽⁷¹⁾

Samuel SHIPMAN and Sarah DOTY had the following children:

101 i. Esther⁵ SHIPMAN was born in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut January 18, 1745/6. Esther died March 6, 1825 in Connecticut at 79 years of age. She was baptized March 2, 1745/6 at the Congregational Church in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut.⁽⁷²⁾

102 ii. Sarah SHIPMAN was born in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut January 3, 1747/8. Sarah died January 4, 1817 in Saybrook, Middlesex County, Connecticut at 69 years of age.⁽⁷³⁾ She was baptized January 10, 1747/8 at the Congregational Church in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut.⁽⁷⁴⁾

104 iv. Benoni SHIPMAN was born in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut March 20, 1753. Benoni died May 23, 1820 in Saybrook, Middlesex County, Connecticut at 67 years of age.⁽⁷⁵⁾

Samuel SHIPMAN and Hannah BUSHNELL had the following children:

105 v. Hannah SHIPMAN was born in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut September 26, 1755. Hannah died March 15, 1826 in Granby, Hartford County, Connecticut at 70 years of age. She was baptized November 16,1755 at the Congregational Church in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut.⁽⁷⁶⁾

106 vi. Nathaniel SHIPMAN was born in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut February 18, 1759. He was baptized April 8, 1759 at the Congregational Church in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut.⁽⁷⁷⁾

107 vii. Clarinda SHIPMAN was born in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut November 23, 1762. Clarinda died March 7, 1814 in Saybrook, Middlesex County, Connecticut at 51 years of age.⁽⁷⁸⁾ She was baptized January 9, 1763 at the Congregational Church in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut.⁽⁷⁹⁾

108 viii. Joshua SHIPMAN was born in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut June 16, 1765. Joshua died March 29, 1767 in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut at 1 year of age. He was baptized August 4, 1765 at the Congregational Church in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut.⁽⁸⁰⁾

110 x. Orphana SHIPMAN was born in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut May 6, 1770. Orphana died June 3, 1843 in Saybrook, Middlesex County, Connecticut at 73 years of age.⁽⁸¹⁾ She was baptized June 17, 1770 at the Congregational Church in Saybrook, New Haven County, Connecticut.⁽⁸²⁾
