She married John William EGGERS Sr. June 18, 1874 at Christ Episcopal Church in Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey.(441) John was born February 4, 1848 in New York City, New York County, New York. John was the son of Peter EGGERS and Katharina HAUCK. John died May 1, 1926 at Saint Barnabus Hospital in Newark, Essex County, New Jersey at 78 years of age.(442) He was interred May 5, 1926 at Evergreen Cemetery, C Lawn Crest Section, Grave 2 in Hillside, Union County, New Jersey.(443)

J. W. EGGERS VETERAN RAILROAD MAN DEAD

NEWARK, May 3. - Following a long illness from a broken hip as the result of a fall, John W. Eggers, Sr., of 75 Astor Place, died Saturday afternoon. He formerly lived in Elizabeth where he was a member of Memorial Lodge of Odd Fellows which he helped to organize February 14, 1872. The organization recently became affiliated with Elizabethport Lodge.

Mr. Eggers also was a member of Tyrian Lodge, No. 135, F. & A. M.; Elizabeth Forest, Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Exempt Firemen's Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Elizabeth, and of the Veteran Masons' Association of this city. He formerly was a conductor on the Central Railroad, serving that company fifty-two years.

Mr. Eggers, who was 76 years old, retired seven years ago, and at that time had a train running between Port Newark and Jersey City.

His survivors are his widow, Mrs. Arabella S. Eggers; five sons, John W. Eggers, Jr., of Elizabeth; Frank H. Eggers, Brooklyn; Raymond Eggers, Elizabeth; and Louis H. and Herbert S. Eggers, of this city; a daughter, Mrs Arabella S. Parks, of this city, thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

MRS. ARABELLA S. S. EGGERS

NEWARK, Sept 6. - Mrs. Arabella Stuart Shipman Eggers, 80 years old, of 75 Astor street, died yesterday at her home. She was born in Elizabeth and lived in Newark many years. She was affiliated with Eureka Chapter 2, O. E. S., of Elizabeth, American War Mothers, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Surviving are five sons, John W. Eggers, Jr., and Raymond S. Eggers, of Elizabeth; Frank H. Eggers, of Brooklyn, and Louis H. and Herbert V. Eggers, of this city; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Parks, of this city; thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah V. Roll, of this city, and Mrs. Allen Bruce, of Milburn.

Arabella Stuart SHIPMAN and John William EGGERS Sr. had the following children:

Raymond S. Eggers' World War I draft registration card, dated 12 September 1918, lists his occupation as Shipping Clerk for Babcock & Wilcox, Bayonne, NJ. It describes him as being of medium height, medium build and having blue eyes and gray hair.

SERVICES FOR R. S. EGGERS, RETIRED P. O. AIDE, LISTED

Arrangements have been made for the funeral on Monday of Raymond Shipman Eggers, 64 years old, retired postal worker, who died suddenly yesterday in his room at 340 Westminster avenue. He was found dead shortly after noon when his landlady entered the room to make his bed.

Mr. Eggers was born at Chester. He lived most of his life in Elizabeth, but formerly resided at 262 First avenue, Roselle.

From 1936 until he retired due to ill health in August, 1948, he was employed as a special delivery messenger by the Elizabeth Post Office. Mr. Eggers often traveled between sixty and seventy miles a day in his auto, delivering messages of cheer and sorrow to families in the Elizabeth area.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Arabella Parks, of Newark, and three brothers, Frank Henry Eggers, of Brooklyn; Louis E. Eggers, Newark, and Herbert V. Eggers, of Elizabeth. Mr. Eggers was unmarried.

Services will be held at the Alfred C. Haines Funeral Home, 628 Newark avenue.

HERBERT V. EGGERS

Herbert V. Eggers, 72, of the Park East Hotel, 1065 E. Jersey St., died today at Alexian Brothers Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Chester, he lived in Newark before coming here in 1949. He retired in 1957 after 41 years of service as a bus operator with Public Service Coordinated Transport.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Julia Byrnes Eggers; a brother, Frank, of Long Island, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Bannworth Funeral Home, 1055 E. Jersey St.
