157. Peter Henry⁵ DOTY (John⁴, Edward³, Samuel², Edward¹) was born in Somerset County, New Jersey circa 1752. Peter died 1817 in Brooke County, Virginia at 65 years of age.

He married Catherine POWELSON Vorhees circa 1776 in Somerset County, New Jersey. Catherine was born September 11, 1751 in Somerset County, New Jersey. Catherine died 1819 in Brooke County, Virginia at 67 years of age.

After their marriage they moved to Roxbury, Morris Co., NJ. Since Peter is listed as a member of the Somerset County Militia during the Revolutionary War, his move to Morris County probably came during or after the war and probably several years after his marriage.

About 1796, his family emigrated to Brooke County, VA (now in West Virginia) and settled nearly opposite the present city of Steubenville, Ohio.

His brother John and his family also went to Brooke County and, about 1808, went on to Mt. Vernon. Knox County, Ohio.

Peter Henry DOTY and Catherine POWELSON Vorhees had the following child:
