Researching in Collin County : Newman, George W.(Grandfather, died aboout 1904; Lewis, Julia M.(Grandmother, would like to know about her family, date and place of marriage, etc.)
GW and Julia married 1891 Vol 8 -142; there is another GW married Dora A Morrison, 1907 Vol 14-589. There is a death for a George W Newman (did they have a son?) 15 Jan 1955 age 53. There is a GW Newman buried at Cottage Hill Cem Jan 22 1858 - Mar 4 1905 (In Cemetery Inscriptions, by Pitts) (Shown May 4 in Cottage Hill book). I believe this is him as the infant next to him: Ruth 1899-1900 is shown as dau of GW and Julia in Gayle Maxson's "Cottage Hill Cemetery". There are 4 spaces on one side of them and two on the other with no headstones. There is also a probate file for George M Newman -1905 and for George W -1954.

He was County judge in early 1900's Two children: Thelma dob 1895 and
Henry L
Jacob Apr 18 1822 - July 2 1895 Forest Grove Cem. There is a probate file for Amanda H -1866. In Brown's Collin County in Pioneer Times, there is a mention of Jacob, he taught school before the Civil War in the Orchard Gap Primitive Baptist Church. This is 7 miles SE of McKinney between Lucas and Forest Grove. There is a story of an altercation between Jacob and a class bully. A son of Jacob's, JB "Ben" offered to duel with the boy but he didnt show up. JB eventually served in the Confederate Army, and later became a Christian preacher; his daughter married Tom W Perkins.
