Dear Mr. Ferguson:
Thank you for your inquiry to the Brooklyn Collection. During the early years of the paper (1840's through the 1860's) a few columns on page one of the Daily Eagle were usually reserved for fiction, so this story is probably fictitious. We have to qualify this though because it could also be a Human Interest story, or perhaps someone's family memoirs. We're sorry we can not give you a more definitive answer.
