James Driscoll (B March 1814/1816?) He immigrated to NY via Canada in the late 1840's. According to family letter, his wife died at sea. He had 5 brothers {Jeremiah (tailor) and Dennis - possibly his twin} and a sister Mary. James died Jan 18th, 1901 in Brooklyn, NY; the death cert lists James as father and unknown as mother.
Beginning in 1850, the James Driscoll who immigrated is listed in census records as a tailor married to Ann. The family lived on Montgomery St, NY, NY. One of their children Jeremiah (B Feb 1852) was my husband's great grandfather. Jeremiah and Mary Agnes O'Brien had a son James J (B June 6th, 1876) - my husband's grandfather. He and Caroline Schildknecht had 4 children, including my husband's father James A Driscoll.
A family letter states that our Driscolls came from the Bantry Bay area. However, oral history indicates that the family lived in Skibbereen or Baltimore, County Cork.
