Driscoll of Cork
Roll Call: Edward J Driscolldna

John Driscoll was born on February 28, 1828. He immigrated from Bandon, Cork in the spring of 1850. He landed in New York with a cousin. They were separated. They never found each other thereafter. John Driscoll moved to Scranton, Pennsylvania where he met and married Elizabeth Judge. I suspect he was a laborer whose employment was primarily with railroads. In his later years, he was a farmer and also took time to work for railroad associated interest. In his later days he was a section foreman and worked in and around Anderson, Indiana. This is located in Madison County, Indiana. His seventh child, Agnes Driscoll (Conley) was born in Anderson, Indiana in November, 1869.

John and Elizabeth Driscoll had ten children. Their names in order were: Timothy, Daniel, John, Matthew (my grandfather), Frank, Mary, Elizabeth, Agnes, James Henry and Charles D. Charles was born in 1878. The first child, Timothy, was born at Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1855. All the other births were recorded at or near Elgin, Illinois. John Driscoll died June 13, 1900.

He is buried near Gilberts in St. Mary's Cemetery.
